Ingredients
Serves: 6
• 170g plain flour
• pinch of salt
• ¼ tsp baking powder
• 90g lard
• water to mix
• 225g finely chopped onion
• 60g grated cheese
• 2 tbsp milk
• 30g butter
• seasoning
Preparation method
Prep: 20 mins | Cook: 30 mins
1.
Place flour, salt and baking powder into a bowl. Rub in lard and mix to a stiff paste with the water.

Boil the onions in a little water until tender, then strain.
3.
Roll out half the pastry and line the pie dish with it. Place in the onions. Scatter cheese on top. Season with salt and pepper. Dot over butter. Add milk.
4.
Roll out remaining pastry and fix to top of pie. Make 2 sharp cuts on top of pie. Brush over with egg. Bake in moderate oven for 20 – 25 minutes
